Trendi hopes to galvanize and mobilize the community to reduce food waste through conversation, an educational installation, and friendly video game competition.

Burnaby, BC, CANADA, November 15, 2021 – TrendiTech Inc. (Trendi), Canada’s robotics start-up focused on innovative food waste and upcycling solutions, hopes to drive conversation and action through its educational #FCKFOODWASTE installation at PlantedExpo (Vancouver Convention Centre West). From November 20 to 21, 2021, the whole community is invited to meet the team, learn about its food waste technology, taste test samples from its new product line, and engage in a friendly food waste video game competition.

This past summer, Trendi announced it had raised $2.25 million CAD in seed funding. The Burnaby-based company was also named a semi-finalist in the Government of Canada’s Food Waste Reduction Challenge

“We recognize that food waste is a multi-faceted problem, and we want to encourage and jump start further conversation about food waste by participating in special tradeshows and events, such as the Planted Expo, Canada’s largest plant-based event of 2021,” explains Carissa Campeotto, co-founder and CMO of Trendi. “Planted has such an amazing community of like-minded companies and organizations, who all have a similar goal to building a more sustainable future.”

In addition to visiting Trendi’s educational booth, Expo visitors will also have the chance to check-out Trendi’s augmented reality photobooth and participate in its Food Rescuer mobile video game tournament for prizes. Trendi’s state-of-the-art booth was custom made from recycled, modified shipping containers by Montreal-based Steel Space Concept, creators of unique, experiential pop-ups.

Participants will also be one of the first to sample Trendi’s new upcoming product line, which features water enhancers, juice, and smoothies made from chill-drying fruits and vegetables. This solution is targeted to upcycle mass amounts of misfit and excess food before it goes to waste.

“We are thrilled to debut our new water and food enhancer product line at Planted Expo,” adds Campeotto. “It’s tasty, full of nutrients, and will help us make a massive difference in reducing food waste. We look forward to all the feedback. But most of all, we hope to galvanize more people to join the #fckfoodwaste movement with us.”

CEO Craig McIntosh and Joel Harrison, Head of Marketing at Trendi, are both speaking on the Planted Expo stage. Topics include the world’s food waste problem, why it exists, and what people can do to help combat it.

Planted Expo is in Vancouver at Vancouver Convention Centre West (1055 Canada Place) from November 20 to 21, 2021.
