We usually aren’t ones to brag but it’s been a big year for us! Trendi got to cross off places on our bucket list and visit old favourites, all while on our mission to save the world from food waste.
Innovative Product of the Year
Team Trendi travelled to ‘the city that never sleeps’ to participate in the Embedded Technology Convention USA. Over the two days, the team met with people from around the world, showcased our F*ck Food Waste container display, and talked up our agri-tech robotics. On the last day, Trendi was thrilled to be awarded Embedded’s “Innovative Product of the Year” for our BioTrim creation. Embedded’s Innovative Product of the Year award credits a product they see as an unstoppable force and the basis for thousands of embedded tech professionals’ success.
Food Sustainability Award
This past May, Trendi stepped onto the global stage in France at the 75th Annual Festival de Cannes for the 2BUnicorn for Food Sustainability Challenge and presented to an international panel of judges on how we are tackling food sustainability with global tech solutions. Together with Aleph Farms, the Academica for a Better World Committee awarded both companies the 2022 2BUnicorn for Food Sustainability Award.
Innovation Award
Trendi’s innovative technology serves all levels of the food distribution cycle with a focus on achieving Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-Being, and Responsible Consumption and Production, three of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as laid out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. This technology is why Trendi won the Restaurants Canada Show’s 2022 Innovation Award. This award is given to a company which has created a game-changing Canadian product that made a significant positive impact on food service operations.
First Place in Pitch Competition
Trendi was personally invited to attend the LG NOVA Innovation Festival in San Francisco and participate in its start-up pitch competition. The Innovation Festival gathered over 500 startups, industry experts, investors, mentors and influencers to converse, collaborate and network on challenges and topics that impact our future. We were awarded first place with a USD $15,000 cheque, alongside fellow Canadian start-ups Skinopathy in second place and Metalistings in third place.
We’re so proud of our team of misfits and their hard work and dedication to making Trendi’s vision a reality – taking an idea drawn on a napkin to where we are now. We can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for us!
